Common questions
How do I open a DICOM file?
Three ways:
From the app. Tap the import button in the Voxelis library. Pick a .dcm file, a folder containing .dcm files, or a .zip archive of a DICOM series.
Via AirDrop, Mail, or Messages. When someone sends you a .dcm, tap it and pick "Open in Voxelis" from the share sheet. The file opens directly in the viewer.
From the Files app. Long-press a .dcm in Files, then "Share → Voxelis".
The image won't open or shows an error.
Voxelis supports the most common DICOM transfer syntaxes used by modern scanners: Explicit VR Little Endian, Implicit VR Little Endian, JPEG Baseline (1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.50), and JPEG 2000 (1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.90 lossless and .91 lossy). Some older or vendor-specific transfer syntaxes (JPEG Lossless 1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.70, RLE Lossless, MPEG video) are not yet supported. If you have a file that doesn't open, please email it (or a sample anonymised file with the same transfer syntax) to [email protected] and the format will be evaluated for support.
Is Voxelis a medical device? Can I use it for diagnosis?
No. Voxelis is for educational and review purposes only. It is not FDA-cleared, not CE-marked, and not intended for primary diagnostic reading. Always consult a qualified medical professional and use a clinically-validated workstation for diagnostic decisions.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Voxelis does not upload anything anywhere. See the privacy policy for details.
Why don't you have an OsiriX-style 3D MPR / cine playback / annotation export?
Voxelis is positioned as a viewer for the on-call moment when you just need to glance at a scan on your phone — not as a full radiology workstation. The roadmap focuses on first-party platform integration (AirDrop, share sheet, iOS 26 Liquid Glass), not feature parity with desktop tools. If something specific would unlock a real workflow for you, email and tell us — feature requests from real users beat speculative scope.
What actually happened (a screenshot or screen recording is gold).
Your device model (Settings → General → About → Model Name) and iOS version (Settings → General → About → Software Version).
If a specific .dcm file triggered it: an anonymised sample if you can share one. If you can't share the file, the modality (CT, MR, etc.) and the transfer syntax UID (visible in the metadata inspector).
