In short: Connection Info shows whether your Mac's traffic goes through a VPN. To show your public IP address and network, it asks a public lookup service once in a while. Everything else stays on your Mac. No account, no analytics, no ads.
What Connection Info is
Connection Info is a macOS menu bar app published on the Mac App Store under the bundle identifier ruslandautov.ConnectionInfo. It is not a VPN: it does not create, route or inspect your traffic.
Public IP lookup
To show your public IP address, location and network provider, the app sends a plain request to ipinfo.io, or to ipapi.co if that fails, when the connection changes and every few minutes. Like any web request, this reveals your public IP address to that service. Nothing else is sent: no identifiers, no history, no information about you. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests.
What stays on your Mac
Network details such as your interfaces, route and DNS servers are read from macOS on your Mac and shown in the app.
Activity log of VPN connections, drops and address changes is stored in the app's own storage on your Mac for up to 90 days. You can clear it at any time; exporting a CSV is your choice.
Trusted networks you add are stored on your Mac. They are identified by your provider's network, not by Wi-Fi name, so the app never asks for your location.
Notifications are local to your Mac.
Purchases
Connection Info Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; the app only learns whether Pro is active.
